We are delighted that you are interested in volunteering on our Kids Team! Please follow the steps below to complete your safer recruitment process.
If you are on an existing STwSS ministry team you may not need to complete every step below. Please get in touch with our Kids Minister if you have any questions, or would like to discuss anything at all.
Please note that volunteers cannot begin their role before all the steps below are complete.

2 - Application Form
Once you have read the Role Description, please complete the Kids Team Application Form.
(You will need an email and phone number for two people to be your references when completing this form)

3 - Confidential Declaration Form
Please now complete your Confidential Declaration Form. (If you have an existing DBS with STwSS that hasn’t expired then please go to step 4. Please contact us if you are not sure.)

4 - References
We will now contact your named Referees in relation to your suitability for this role.
5 - Volunteer Interview & Discussion
Once steps 1-4 are complete and have been processed you will be invited for an interview to discuss the role and your suitability for the role. This interview will be with the Kids Minister and the Ministry Safeguarding Leader.
6 - DBS Check
After the interview, you will be asked to complete a DBS check. You will be emailed a unique code and instructions on how to complete your DBS check in due course. (If you have an existing DBS with STwSS that hasn’t expired then please go to step 7. Please contact us if you are not sure.)
7 - Safeguarding Awareness
Our church closely follows the guidelines given to us from Southwark, 'A Safe Church', in order to protect our children, young people, adults and volunteers.

8 - Safeguarding Training
To keep our ministry as safe as possible we need every member of our Kids Team to complete the Southwark Diocese Safeguarding Online Training.

9 - Risk Assessments

10 - Agreement

11 - Approval Letter
Once the steps above have been successfully completed you will receive a letter of approval for starting your role.
(Please note that volunteers cannot begin their role before all the steps above are complete.)
12 - Induction
Once the Kids Minister and Ministry Safeguarding Leader have confirmed in writing to the PCC that your application process has been approved, you can get started. The Kids Minister will now induct you into your role on the Kids Team.

13 - Three Month Review
After three months we will review how you are getting on in your role and whether both parties feel happy to continue your volunteer role.
We will also have an annual review each year.
