The Alpha Course

The Alpha Course

What am I doing here? If God did exist what would you ask?

What is the point of life?
Why do people suffer?
What happens when we die?
Is foregiveness possible?

What is Alpha?

The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the christian faith.

It’s relaxed, low-key, friendly and fun.

There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives you an opportunity to get to know each other.

Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile.

And it’s supported by all the main Christian denominations.

What’s involved?

The Alpha course consists of a series of talks each week in our morning services, looking at topics such as “Who is Jesus?” and “Why and how do I pray?” The discussion then continues in small group meeting at various times during the week following.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone, especially:

  • Those wanting to investigate Christianity
  • New Christians
  • Newcomers to the church
  • Those who want to brush up on the basics

What will it cost?

There is no charge for the Alpha course, although you may be asked to make a contribution towards food if your small group provides a meal.

When does it start?

This term’s Alpha course runs from 23rd January 2011 through to the end of Lent. Each week in the Sunday morning service there will be a talk, with discussion in a small group, meeting in homes or the churches and at various times throughout the week, including immediately after each morning service. Ask one of the clergy or the parish office for more details and to find a group suitable for you.

We are planning future Alpha courses, and other courses to which all are welcome. Contact the Parish Office for the latest information and to reserve your place on the next course. See also the Alpha website.
