How do I get a STwSS e-mail account?
Staff and leaders of significant activities at St Thomas with St Stephen all have STwSS e-mail accounts. If you receive (or expect to) a lot of e-mail related to STwSS activities, you can apply for an stwss.org.uk e-mail address.
Send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the following details:
- Your full name
- Your e-mail address (other than the STwSS one!)
- Your reason for needing an STwSS e-mail address.
The postmaster will create for you a POP3 e-mail account, normally in the format [firstname].[surname]@stwss.org.uk, with a temporary password and will email you details of how to set it up.
First, most importantly, you should change the password to something of your own choice. Strong passwords are at least 10 characters long, and are a mixture of upper and lower case letters and digits. To change your password, go to http://webmail.1and1.co.uk, log in with the temporary password and go to Settings.
You could continue to use the webmail interface, but we recommend setting up Outlook (or another e-mail client) to send and receive mail, using your e-mail address and password and the following server information.
Here is the dialog from Outlook 2007 that shows the incoming and outgoing mail servers and where this information needs to go. (Please enter your own name, e-mail address and password!)

You should also press the [More Settings...] button and set up the outgoing server to use authentication—see the dialog below.

You can, if you wish, run your mailbox with the IMAP protocol, with imap.1and1.co.uk as the incoming server. For a description of the differences between POP3 and IMAP, Queen Mary College has a useful web page. If in doubt, we recommend sticking with POP3.
