Parochial Church Council

Parochial Church Council

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is the board of trustees for the local church.

The PCC’s function in law is to “to co-operate with the Vicar in the promotion in the parish of the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical.” It is the leadership body of the local church. Under charity law, its members are trustees and have responsibility for the proper running of the charity and the management of its finances.

The PCC meets every two months. There are nine elected members, and three are elected each year, for three-year terms, at the Annual Church Parochial Meeting (APCM). It is most essential that we have an election, and we want to encourage church members to consider standing if they wish to take part in the leadership of the church.

In addition there are several ex officio members: the clergy, members of Deanery Synod (also elected at the APCM), the churchwardens, and one of our Readers.
